Awarded! dk Life Science Communications wins the PRophy 2025 in the “Classic Press Relations” category
We are delighted: dk Life Science Communications has been awarded the PRophy – the first award for strong healthcare communications! In the “Classic Press Relations” category, we were able to impress with our strategically realigned media work for the German Congress for Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery (DKOU) 2024.

The project focused on quality and individual tailoring: three carefully selected topics with high relevance – from innovative diagnostics and treatment for osteoporosis to current approaches in shoulder surgery for osteoarthritis and the politically highly topical issue of outpatient treatment – were journalistically prepared, individually pitched and placed in a targeted manner. Instead of a traditional press conference, the focus was on personal interaction with selected media – with success: 15 high-quality, in some cases full-page publications, including two podcasts, live coverage of the congress with a total reach of over 5 million speak for themselves.

What did we learn from the project? That traditional press work needs new standards today: topics must be journalistically conceived and linked to social relevance. It is no longer enough to simply communicate sender messages. The media want clear stories, concrete references to patients, care or politics – and they want contact persons with attitude.
If you want to meet these expectations, you not only have to deliver in terms of content, but also be prepared to invest significantly more time, care and sensitivity than you did a few years ago. This also includes identifying the right journalists – those who have a genuine interest in the topic and can write about it credibly. Because unlike in the past, it is no longer enough to simply write to the “right” editorial offices – today it is important to find exactly the people who consider the topic relevant and who want to tell it with journalistic flair and their own conviction. Planning, timing and sharpening the content are just as important as a real understanding of what really interests editors.
Traditional press work is alive and well – but only if it is carried out with strategic sensitivity, journalistic standards and a genuine interest in making an impact. For us, the PRophy is both an award and an incentive: health communication can achieve a lot. You just have to do it right.
